A candidate other than the official Republican or Democratic party nominee will receive the most POPULAR votes in the general election for president of the United States in 1996. If for any reason, the Republican or Democratic party nominates a new candidate after the convention (due to death, scandal, etc.)the new candidate is the "official" party candidate for the purposes of the claim. Notice that the results of the electoral college (or the House of Representatives) are irrelevant to this claim. If the United States ceases to exist by November of 1996, you will have a lot more to worry about than this claim.
None.
