By January 1, 2019, one of the U.S. states will lower its age for the purchase and public consumption of alcoholic beverages to 18.
As of claim creation, all 50 states have a drinking age of 21, due in part to the National Minimum Drinking Age Act. Recently, around 100 university presidents publicly endorsed a reconsideration of the drinking age law.
