By December 31, 2020, the United States Congress will pass a federal law banning the sale of all handguns to private citizens in all US States. This claim will be judged true if a total ban is put into effect, or if certain exemptions are added for law enforcement personnel, licensed security services, and other hazardous occupations. The claim will be judged false if the President vetoes the bill and the veto is not overridden by Congress. This claim will still be judged true if citizens already owning handguns are allowed to retain their guns. The effective date of the ban can be arbitrary.
