This claim will be judged YES if the Osprey 2 wave power generator is destroyed within one year of its installation. For purposes of this claim, OSPREY 2 is installed when it first begins to generate electricity. Destroyed is intrepreted as total destruction, sinking, damage sufficient to require that OSPREY 2 be returned to a drydock for repairs, or intentional scuttling due to damage. If the OSPREY 2 is destroyed prior to installation or is not installed by 1/1/2000, this claim will be judged YES. Background: The OSPREY (Ocean Swell Powered Renewable Energy) is a generator that produces power from the action of ocean waves. OSPREY 1 was installed off of the Scottish coast on 2 August 1995 with much fanfare, only to sink within weeks of installation. The designer claims that the basic design is sound, and that OSPREY 2, an exact copy, will be installed in the same area by the Summer of 1996. For more detail, see Nature v377 page 6.
I will judge based on the wording of the claim unless it is found to be ambiguous. Such ambiguities will be resolved based on my perception of the author's intent.
