Equipment will be on sale by 1January 2001 that enables person A to "Travel" to person B's location by the following means. Each person puts on a Virtual Travel headset, which is similar to a virtual reality headset, and is connected to the telephone system. Person A received auditory and visual stimuli similar to those he would recive if he is in person B's location, and person B sees his own location with person a superimposed on it. Person A is able to move his viewpoint around person B's location. The claim is limited to sight, hearing and movement, ie touch and smell etc are not included. The price of the equipment for sale is to be less that $1000 per headset, in the USA (including local taxes and any unavoidable extras). The claim requires stereo sound with a bandwidth of at least 7.5kHz, although compression may be used, and stereo video with at least 512x512 pixels with 64 levels and color, compression may be used. If the video compression results in time judder the claim will be allowable.
I will judge based on the wording of the claim unless it is found to be ambiguous. Such ambiguities will be resolved based on my perception of the author's intent.
