The Federal government of United States will use some form of conscription between 1999/7/1 and 2000/7/1 involving at least 100 people according to reports in the major news media, cited in messages sent to fx-discuss@ideosphere.com or a communications channel specified by the judge of the claim. The use of a draft or conscription for purposes of this claim is not limited to obtaining manpower for the military but may include attempts to obtain people with specialized skills for work in the Civil Service.
For purposes of this claim, conscription will include both 1) direct conscription of individuals(i.e. requiring individuals to become employees of the US government) 2) indirect conscription-which would include freezing people into their jobs via Executive Order or Act of Congress.
For purposes of this claim, the major news media includes: The Times of London, The London Economist, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Infoworld and Computerworld. Background: The United States has from time to time used drafts to raise military forces. During WW II, civilians were also frozen into their jobs and required to perform hazardous duties(i.e. sailors in the Merchant Marine).
